Welsh Wool Company

Monkstone founder Anna set up the Welsh Wool Company as a way of putting the farmer at the forefront, bringing a fair balance to the supply chain of wool. The WWC aims to foster a relationship between manufacturers and farmers to add value to locally grown wool, in turn building important connections with the textile industry.

WWC acts as a micro-merchant, working with the most established manufacturers and woollen mills within Wales, and partners who support locality, sustainable design methods and fashion-forward technology to optimise the diversity that wool has to offer. We assist farmers through the shearing program to washing, carding and spinning, building industry connections. We offer UK-based brands sourcing of sustainable, fairly priced Welsh yarn and British manufacturing advice. We work with brands to establish their product goals, being mindful of provenance, scale, traditional breeds, and portraying what Wales has to offer.

Working with British Wool's traceability scheme to ensure supply is 100% traceable back to farm fleece allows farmers premiums for their wool, giving them pride in their flocks, minimising waste and establishing meaningful relationships between growers and supply chains.

As our mission grows, so does our knowledge and interest in these hardy breeds. Establishing a supply chain supporting our native Welsh flocks and farmers can lead to a unique combination of fleece to develop exceptional Welsh yarn.
