Our Heritage
Perched above Monkstone Beach in Pembrokeshire, Trevayne Farm has been home to three generations of Reeds since 1935. Our wares reflect agricultural lifestyle and landscape, crafted as heirlooms from the finest mills and artisans, always tried and tested on the farm.
Founded in 2010 by Anna Reed (then Felton), Monkstone Knitwear was based on the design principles of permaculture. These include; to produce no waste, use small and slow solutions to set production limits and to make the best use of nature's abundance, reducing consumption and dependence on non-renewable resources.
Monkstone started with one flock made up of two breeds, Black Welsh Mountain and Dorset sheep, championing small-batch, made-to-order knitwear and collections made to last and be cherished for generations.
Over time, we have further diversified the farm. Moving from one flock to an online shop, introducing new products through collaborating with local craftspeople to create a community and local supply chain. All of our products are still made to last and always tested on the farm.
Trevayne Farm remains a working farm and a campsite too, we keep pigs, sheep, horses and cattle. We sell our seasonal produce including home grown flowers, vegetables and grass fed, pasture raised lamb, pork and beef in our farm shop and through Monkstone Meadows online.
As we step into the 90th year of being custodians of the land at Trevayne, we shall continue to develop welcoming spaces for our animals, wildlife and visitors, ensuring to stay committed to preserving the local landscape in a treasured part of Wales.
